Following the 24-Hour Movement Guidelines is associated with a number of health benefits including:
- lower risk of mortality, cardiovascular disease, hypertension, type 2 diabetes, several cancers, anxiety, depression, dementia, weight gain, adverse blood lipid profile; and
- improved bone health, cognition, quality of life and physical function.
The benefits of following these guidelines far exceed the potential harm; they are informed by the best available evidence.
Light Physical Activity: 8-10K steps per day
Aerobic Activity: Minimum 150 minutes/week
Muscle Strengthening: Minimum twice/week
Sleep: 7 - 9 hours/night
Sedentary Behaviour: Maximum 8 hours/day
