Perimenopause and the early stages of menopause are considered to be a critical window for women's health. This is a sensitive period of time during which small health problems, if left unaddressed, can amplify into larger more permanent health problems down the road. Entering a state of physiological flux makes us vulnerable to the onset of new health conditions.
Fortunately, this "tipping point" is also considered a "window of opportunity" for prevention. When we understand how our body is adjusting to this physiological flux, we provide ourselves with the opportunity to make appropriate lifestyle adjustments and help to ensure we continue to remain resilient and disease free.
